07. One Step Behind

1 part - 85 minutes - First broadcast: 08.01.2006

Dressed in 18th century costumes, three young people celebrate the myth-enshrouded Midsummer. No one has seen them since that day. No cause for concern for Inspector Wallander at first, as postcard greetings prove that the young people are on a spontaneous trip. The bodies of the three young people are found in a nature reserve, all dressed up with freshly powdered wigs and dressed up collars. They were shot from ambush. Three young people who had no chance to live their lives. For Wallander, this scenario seems like an incomprehensible nightmare. The next terrible news follows mercilessly: Wallander finds Svedberg, his long-time colleague and friend, dead in his apartment. A sight Wallander will never forget. All the evidence suggests that there is a connection between the crimes. Wallander realizes that he first has to question his personal relationship with Svedberg and his colleague Maja before he can take down the serial killer in a final duel.
