11. A Lesson in Love

Inspector Wallander and his young colleague Tobias Eliasson make a gruesome discovery in a ditch by the side of the road: the body of a woman who has been stabbed to death lies there. She lived in seclusion with her daughter Hannah in a nearby village. Wallander learns from neighbors that the murdered woman and a local motorcycle club were at odds with each other. The club's boss, Gustav Ericsson, who has a criminal record, pays Wallander a visit and then orders a search of the house.

The police find the murder weapon - covered in the fingerprints of Ericsson's son Pontus. The heavily incriminated young man makes no statement and does not even deny the crime. Despite the suspicious behavior and the circumstantial evidence, Wallander doesn't think he has reached his goal in the case. He lacks the motive for such a brutal murder. Then a surprising reunion with his former lover Baipa Liepa puts the detective on the right track.
